As you know I’m always on the lookout for new and fun fitness classes, especially ones I can take my baby to as well. My prayers were answered the other day when I came across a new trampoline class called Boogie Bounce. Oh my gosh, I cannot tell you how fun this class looked – jumping around on trampolines to loud music and flashing lights. What’s not to love?!
So anyway, I booked myself on to Boogie Bounce at Body Evo (a ladies only fitness studio) in Witney. As I navigated my way in through the narrow doors with my buggy I felt a little dubious. Most of the women looked like they had been before and I was suddenly anxious that there would be some sort of dance routine that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with. So I parked Amelia and myself at the back of the room and put my towel down on one of the mini trampolines, nervously awaiting the instructor. As I listened to some of the women chatting, it suddenly dawned on me… I have just had a baby and I am about to jump around on a trampoline for 45 minutes… cue the multiple trips to the toilet just in case!
Anyway my fears were alleviated as the class got started. Firstly, the instructor was doing a new routine which meant, even if you were a seasoned Boogie Bounce pro, everyone was in the same boat in terms of not knowing the moves. Secondly, I had nothing to worry about on the whole pelvic floor front thankfully. Looks like those weeks of squats and muscle strengthening exercises have paid off. Phew!
I have to say the class was pretty epic. Loud music, morale boosting fitness instructor on the mic and such a cool cardio routine. It’s amazing how much you need to use your core and balance for many of the moves, especially on some of the leg raises. It really got my heart rate up and most importantly it made me smile. Amelia looked on from her buggy (pretty nonplussed to be honest) but didn’t cry at all. I think however as she gets older I will have a hard time keeping her from jumping on the trampoline with me though…It’s just too much fun.
Here’s a video of some crazy ladies doing Boogie Bounce for you to see what it’s all about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euPHQwjtyh8 – just so you know, there wasn’t so much screaming and whooping in my class thankfully!
I believe Boogie Bounce is a nationwide fitness class and can be found at lots of gyms, so have a look for your nearest one.. I can’t promise they all allow baby in though. The great thing about the class at Body Evo is that you don’t need to be a member to attend, you can just pay as you go or book one of their class passes. And if you don’t fancy the bouncing or don’t think your pelvic floor is up to it yet, then you can go to their circuit classes instead as you can take baby onto the circuit floor in the car seat too. Win win in my opinion!
